Our Founders
Bob Rosa
Bob Rosa is a multi-platinum audio engineer and producer, whose career spans overfour decades of shaping iconic sounds across genres. Starting in the early 1980s at Intergalactic Recording Studios and later Unique Recording Studios in New York City, Bob quickly became a sought-after name in the music industry. His breakthrough came with engineering the ground-breaking track “Planet Rock” by Afrika Bambaataa & the Soulsonic Force—the first 12-inch single to go Gold and a cornerstone of hip-hop and electro.
Bob’s credits read like a who’s who of music legends: David A. Stewart, Prince, Duran Duran, Mick Jagger, Cheap Trick, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Michael Jackson, NSYNC, Gloria Estefan, C&C Music Factory and many more. Over the years, his mixes and productions have contributed to albums selling tens of millions worldwide.
Recognized for his excellence, Bob has earned multiple Grammy nominations, a Latin Grammy Award, and a Grammy win for Best Reggae Album with Toots & the Maytals’ True Love. Beyond his technical mastery, Bob is passionate about artist development and innovation, which led him to co-found Slightly Def Records in 2025. His vision: to create a platform where exceptional talent can thrive, blending diverse influences to redefine the future of music.
Gerri Vidal
Gerri Vidal brings a wealth of experience in music administration and artist development. As former Director of A&R Administration at PolyGram MusicGroup/Island Def Jam Music Group, she played a pivotal role in managing projects for some of the world’s most influential artists such as Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Elvis Costello, DMX, Montell Jordan, the Cranberries, Pulp, Shania Twain and many others, ensuring creative visions were executed with precision and integrity. Her expertise spans contract negotiations, production oversight, and strategic planning—skills that have helped shape successful careers and landmark releases.
Gerri’s passion for nurturing talent and her deep understanding of the business side ofmusic make her an invaluable partner in Slightly Def Records’ mission. Together with Bob, she is committed to building a label that champions artistry, fosters innovation, and creates opportunities for exceptional talent to shine on a global stage.

Both founders are not only industry veterans but also talented musicians. Their creative roots inform every decision at Slightly Def Records, ensuring that artistry remains at the forefront. Gerri holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Wagner College, NYC, bringing formal training and a lifelong passion for performance to the label’s vision.
